Ink Illusions has been collaborating with Qualifi over the last year to write this exception training programme.

This is the first regulated route created specifically for professionals who want to specialise in medical tattooing — without having to complete eyebrow, eyeliner, or lip tattooing training first.

Two Regulated Pathways

Level 4 Certificate in Paramedical Tattooing for Skin Restoration and Camouflage

For practitioners who already hold qualifications in aesthetics or advanced skin treatments and want to step into paramedical tattooing.

Entry requirements:

A Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy, Advanced Skincare, or a relevant medical field (with anatomy & physiology)
OR a Level 4 qualification in Aesthetic Procedures for Skin Rejuvenation or Micropigmentation
A current BLS (Basic Life Support) and anaphylaxis management certificate

If you’re new to tattooing and don’t yet meet the entry criteria, don’t worry — we also offer an accredited CPD course in Paramedical Tattooing for Skin Restoration and Camouflage.

This beginner course is fully accredited and provides a strong practical foundation in skin camouflage and restoration tattooing.

However, councils and insurers are becoming increasingly strict, and many now require regulated qualifications for licensing and insurance approval.

Before enrolling, please check with your local council and insurance provider to confirm that a CPD-accredited, in-person course will be accepted for your area and cover requirements.

Note: CPD graduates will later be able to transition to the regulated courses after 6 months independent experience and case studies have been completed, at the discretion of whether the student is deemed to be at the correct level.

This is not CPD.

This is a nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification pathway on the RQF.

And for most learners, it’s delivered as a combined Level 4 + Level 5 programme – because we do not assume prior knowledge.

The Combined Pathway (Level 4 + Level 5)

Unless you already hold the specific Qualifi CO401 and CO402 units (Level 4 units), you will complete the full combined pathway.

We do this because safe paramedical practice requires more than just technique. It requires clinical-level understanding of consultation, risk management and professional accountability – specifically within the context of paramedical tattooing.

While some practitioners may feel they already have knowledge in areas such as consultation, health and safety, or risk management, paramedical tattooing introduces additional layers of responsibility, assessment criteria and clinical considerations that are not always covered in other training routes.

We cannot assume that prior qualifications – even strong ones – have covered everything you will be formally assessed on within this regulated framework.

To maintain quality of training, practical supervision standards, and assessment integrity, classroom dates will only proceed once minimum cohort numbers are met. We do not deliver regulated training on a one-to-one or two-person basis, as peer learning, case discussion and structured assessment form an essential part of the qualification experience.
